Richard Lee Didyoung, Jr., better known as “The Indian”, 68 of Loysville died on August 17, 2022. Born in Reading on September 27, 1953 to the late Richard Lee and Betty (Breininger) Didyoung, he was a renowned outdoorsman. He is survived by his daughter, Janene (Jason) Long of Birdsboro, his grandson, Aiden; and three siblings: Denise “Dee Dee” (Dean) Reinart of Kutztown, Rockey Didyoung of Reading, and Patrice Zaffary of Reading.
After Rick left high school, he enlisted and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He served on the USS Fiske, which supported the troops in Vietnam. Upon returning to civilian life, he worked as a machinist for Dana Steel.
Rick’s friends shared fond memories of him. This private outdoorsman loved to eat. Although he was a small man in stature, he could out-eat many of his larger friends. He loved his mountain life – fishing, hunting turkeys, bear, deer, as well as the smaller animals. He also made birdhouses and raised dogs – Irish Setters, Weimaraner’s, and Jack Russell’s.
A private memorial service will be held later at the convenience of the family.
