Neal A Lightner

Neal A. Lightner, 83, of Sheaffers Valley, went to be with the Lord on December 27, 2022.  Neal was born on October 14, 1939 in Landisburg to the late Raymond Lightner and Ruth (Miller) Lightner Armstrong.  He was also preceded in death by his wives Darlene (Morrison) Lightner of 48 years and Eunice (Shull) Young Lightner of seven years.

He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (John) Wallace of Elliottsburg and Bobbi Jo (Roger) Pond of Carlisle; five grandchildren: Heather, Aaron, Tara, Shania, and Chase; great grandchildren: Evan, Ethan, and Jared; step grandchildren: Kenny, Floyd “Clay”, and Kii; and step great grandchildren:  Konstantina, Ke’ala, Khloe, Floyd, and Matilda.  Also surviving are half brothers and sisters, Lee (Michelle) Armstrong and Paul Armstrong both of Enola, Rea (Bob) Homer of Camp Hill, and Joy (Dave) Hilliard of Carlisle.

Neal was an independent contractor and co-owner of Lightner & Lightner Painting and Deerwood Builders for his entire career.  Neal was very knowledgeable about Sheaffers Valley history and contributed to several authors.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Neal attended Sheaffers Valley Church of God, Landisburg, and loved the Lord.  He lived his faith and willingly offered help to his church and others with a loving, caring heart.  Neal was an avid hunter and fisherman, and an excellent woodworker/furniture maker.  In his younger years, he loved playing softball for the Landisburg team.

The services and fellowship for Neal will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Perry Mennonite Reception Center (PMRC), 350 Green Park Rd, Elliottsburg, PA  17024.  The visitation will be held from 9 to 11 AM, immediately followed by the funeral service, officiated by Pastor Dennis Bailey.  Fellowship with the family will follow the funeral service.  Interment with military honors will follow the fellowship in Landisburg Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sheaffer’s Valley Church of God, P.O. Box 86, Landisburg, PA  17040.
