Mary Elizabeth (Reisinger) Garman, age 82, joined her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Known as “Mother” to her immediate family, Mary was born August 10, 1937 in Harrisburg to the late Banks and Ethel (Rowe) Reisinger. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Theodore (Ted) R. Garman of Shermans Dale. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by two daughters: Cindy Williams (Bob) of Enola and Mary Kern (John) of Shermans Dale, and two granddaughters: Ashley Bree Williams of Enola and Chelsey Renee Sheriff of Shermans Dale; and three great-granddaughters: Makayla Jade Cottrell of Enola and Milla Layne Frohm and Kepri Areli Sheriff of Shermans Dale. In additional to her husband and children, Mary is also survived by two sisters: Betty Reisinger Garman of Shermans Dale and Dolly Reisinger Dunn of Fort Myers, FL. She was a compassionate and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary’s first priority in life was her relationship to God, followed by caring for her family.
Mary lived for and loved her family. She was preceded in death by one grandchild, Sharn Neal Cleland and one great grandchild, Summer Haze Cottrell, one brother, Charles Reisinger, and two sisters: Janet Reisinger Hiler and Martha Reisinger. Mary cared for and loved people – especially the elderly. She received service awards for volunteerism for visiting and home care of the elderly. This quiet lady was a prayer warrior who followed the adage of “Early to Bed, Early to Rise.”
In addition to running a household, Mary also worked as a shoe assembler for Kinney Shoe Corporation. She was a lifelong member of New Life Assembly of God church, where she actively participated in Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Vacation Bible School. In her free time, Mary enjoyed reading her Bible and watching the wildlife of Perry County.
Mary’s celebration of life will be held at New Life Assembly of God, 397 Bridgeport Road, Landisburg. Receiving of friends and viewing will begin at 10 AM on Friday, August 7, followed by the service at 11 AM with Pastor Larry Bidwell officiating. Interment will follow.
