Lloyd Rowe Obituary

Lloyd E. Rowe, 89, of New Bloomfield and formerly of Blain, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at West Shore Regional Hospital.

Born April 23, 1930 in Loysville, he was the son of the late Dervin and Violet (Stone) Rowe and was a graduate of Blain Union High School.  He was an Army veteran who served bravely during the Korean War Era and was a retired CNA from the former Harrisburg State Hospital.  He had also worked for Kenny Shoes and the Texaco Gas Station.

Well known for collecting anything and everything, he was a very detail oriented person.  Lloyd enjoyed camping, hunting, telling stories, and watching baseball games, especially the Phillies.

He was the widower of Shirley Elizabeth (Smith) Rowe, who passed away last year after 65 years of marriage.  He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Arlene E. Johnson; his sister, Arletta J. Hockenberry and two grandchildren, Waylon and Leslie Rowe.

Surviving are his son, Lloyd A. Rowe (and wife, Wendy), of Blain; his daughter, Darlene E. Armolt, of Newville; his brother, Larry A. Rowe, of Summerdale; 14 loving grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew; and a host of other family members and friends, all of whom will miss him greatly.

Services will be held 12:00 pm, Thursday, January 23, 2020 at  Nickel-Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville, where a viewing will be held from 11:00 am until time of services. Burial with full military honors will be in Blain Cemetery next to his beloved wife.
