Keith Sweger Obituary

Keith E Sweger, age 71, died September 10, 2020 of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.   Born on December 1, 1948 in Blain to the late Robert and Mabel (Jacobs) Sweger Sheaffer, Keith was an avid outdoorsman, loving gun hunting, archery, fishing, and four-wheeling.  In addition to his parents, Keith is preceded in death by his son, Clayton Sweger, a sister, Maxine Bartho, and a brother, Donald Sweger.

Keith was an all-around good-guy.  He loved his grandson, hunting buddies, and his feline companions Tiny and Cookie.  He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Sweger, his son Jesse (Holly) Sweger of Elliottsburg, and his favorite grandson, Zachary.  In addition, he is survived by three sisters:  Anna Rowe and Margaret Colvin, both of Landisburg, and Linda Miley of Orristown.

Keith worked as an overnight maintenance technician for Walmart in Carlisle, until his retirement in 2014.  He continued his passion for working with his hands by creating wooden crafts.  He was a member of the 308 Gang, where his “claim to fame” was killing a 14-point buck.

A gathering of friends will be held Wednesday, September 23 at 3 pm at Hilltop Christian Church in Newport.  A memorial service will follow at 4 pm, with Pastor James Penica officiating.  The gathering and service will follow the COVID parameters.  Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
