JoAnn Adair Obituary

JoAnn “Jo” Holman Adair, 70, of Loysville, went home to Jesus on June 11th, after a valiant fight with cancer.   Jo was born to the late Donald William Holman and Mary Minerva Holman on December 16th, 1950, at home in Newport, PA. 

She was a graduate of Newport High School, class of 1968, and received her registered nursing degree from Polyclinic Nursing School in 1971. She was the Director of the Newborn Screening Program for the Pennsylvania Department of Health, was a nursing supervisor at Loysville Youth Development Center, and was a visiting nurse in Perry County.

Jo loved God, her husband, family, and friends.  She enjoyed hiking, walking, biking, working in her flower beds, crafts, water skiing, and traveling. She was an active member at Church of the Living Christ.  She held the positions of president and treasurer in the Blain Lions Club.  In the club, she earned the Fellow Award for meritorious support for her work with Kid Sight, and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian service.  For many years, Jo served as a director on the board of the Northeast Pennsylvania Lions Eye Bank.

She is survived by her husband, James Clark Adair;  her children, Michelle “Missy” Faith Tyson (Jonathan) and Jeremy Justin Clark Adair (Jennifer); five grandchildren,  Sienna Lynn Tyson (13); Scarlett Rose Tyson(11);  Sophia Albie Adair(8);  Connor James Adair(5); and Tate Joseph Adair(11 months); siblings, Judy Kay (Dale) Ebersole; and Gene Richard (Kay) Holman. 

Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 17th, from 9:30am to 11:00am with  Funeral Service following at Church of the Living Christ, 2401 Fort Robinson Road, Loysville, PA 17047. Memorial contributions in Jo’s honor may be made to the Blain Lions Club C/O Donna Shatto 130 W. Main St. Blain, PA. 17006.  The family is grateful for the love and support they have received from church, family, and friends.
