Jessie Gard Wallace, age 84 of Blain, left his Earthly home and joined his Heavenly Father on April 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born at home on March 5, 1938 to the late Jessie Merle and Lila Arlene (Smith) Wallace of Blain, Gard was a doting and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Arlene (Goodling) Wallace; five children: Deb (Brad) Keller of Shermans Dale, Kim (Bruce) Althouse of Landisburg, Phillip Wallace of Blain, Fred (Karen) Wallace of Loysville, and Joe (Kandance) Wallace of Shermans Dale; twelve grandchildren: Jessica (Jed) Zerance, Chris (Amy) Crull, Cassie (Josh) Wickwire, Cody (Sandra) Wallace, Chad (Jen) Wallace, Drew Althouse, Dan Althouse, Zachary (Tiffany) Sweigart, Toby Grinnen, Lacey Grinner, Jody (Brock) Ryan, and Casey (Web) Coy; twenty-two great grandchildren: Logan, Kelsey, Shayne, Kayleigh, Jesse, Lillie, Tucker, Colton, Kylie Jo, Cody, David, Ridge, Cameron, Caleb, Callie, Lily, Avery, Sophia, Gavin, Garrick, Addyson, and Britney; and a great great grandchild: Oakelynn. In addition to his parents, Gard is preceded in death by his brother: Vern Allen Wallace, his sisters: Flo Morrison and Sally Clites, his grandson, Curt McMullen; and his daughter-in-law, Sheila Griffith.
Gard was initially a farmer and later started a logging and sawmill business. He retired after a logging accident. In addition to being an active and lifetime Deacon at Three Springs Church of Brethren, Gard was a member of Shermans Valley Heritage Days, Blain Fire Company and Blain Ambulance. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and attending Blain Heritage Days and public auctions.

The evening public viewing for Gard will be held on Wednesday, April 13 from 6 -8 PM in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home in Loysville. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 14 at Three Springs Church of Brethren, beginning at 11 AM and officiated by Pastors Brad Benett and John Kipp. There will be an hour viewing time prior to the funeral service at church (10 – 11 AM) for those who could not attend the evening viewing. Interment will follow the funeral service in Blain Cemetery.
