March 31, 1944 ~ September 13, 2021 (age 77)

Obituary

James E. Summers, of Blain, age 77, died on September 13, 2021.  Born in Lewistown on March 31, 1944 to the late Huey and Sylvia Summers, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Pamela (Lindsay) Summers; two children:  Ronald (Jane) Mixell of Carlisle and Jaime (Dean) Hicks of Orrtanna; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two siblings:  Sandra (Ray) Leech and Danny Summers, both of Elizabethtown.  In addition to his late parents, Jim is preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Martin and two brothers:  Donald and Robert Summers.

Jim has worked to provide for his family since he left school.  He retired in 2006 from Wilton Armetale as a Grinder in the foundry.  In his retirement, he loved working at Paradise Stream Campground during the summer.  His favorite post-retirement job was driving for the Amish.  He enjoyed the people and travel involved.  He was always on-the-go and hated to sit still.

Jim was a member of the National Rifle Association and Blain Sportsman Club.  He was passionate about hunting and fishing.  He loved the outdoors.  Many days he could be found sitting on the front porch watching the wildlife near the house.

Funeral services for Jim will be held on Saturday, September 18 in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. in Loysville.  The viewing will be held from noon until 2 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2 PM, with Pastor Bruce Henneman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate in Jim’s name to Blain Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company, 4 W. Main Street, Blain, PA  17006.
