Grover Cleveland “Skip” Cook III, age 72, of Ickesburg, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his home. He was born on October 3, 1947 to the late Grover Cook II and late Miriam Ester (Ricker) Cook.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Florence (Beaston) Cook who passed away in 2015.
Surviving are his two children, Cheryl Cook of Landisburg and Debbie Stahlhuth and husband Steve of Tampa, Florida, and his faithful canine companion, Buckwheat. He also leaves behind three sisters and a brother; Miriam Swayze, Lois Cieri, Faye Clark, all of Harrisburg, and a Richard Cook of Enola.
Grover was a veteran of the Army having served during the Vietnam War. He was an avid camper and hunter as well as being a retired firefighter. He was active in the community as he was a member of both the Newport Legion as well as the American Legion.
He worked as a laborer at Carlisle Tire and Rubber until his retirement in November of 2010.
A viewing will be held from 7-9 PM on Monday, June 1, 2020 at the Nickel-Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held the next day, Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 11AM at the East Waterford Cemetery.
