Earla Mae (Cramer) Hockenberry, 63, of Perry Village, and formerly of Ickesburg, passed away on January 7, 2021. Earla was born in Harrisburg on July 27, 1957 to the late Kenneth and Violet (Dunkleberger) Cramer. She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, George W. Hockenberry, Jr, three children: Sarah Cramer of Loysville, Jennifer (Michael) Stoltzfus of Newport, and Jason (Angela) Hockenberry of Ickesburg, and two grandchildren: Evan and Madeline Stoltzfus of Newport. She is also survived by two brothers: Lester (Patricia) Cramer of Shermans Dale and Elmer (April) Cramer of Newport, and her twin sister Ethel (Rick) Gutshall of Loysville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her late parents, Earla is preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, two brothers: Carl Dunkleberger of Hummelstown and Marlin Cramer of Mifflin; and three sisters: Irene Fischer of Upper Stroudsburg, Mary Campbell of Thompsontown and Betty Campbell of Millerstown.
Earla graduated from West Perry High School. She began her career as a school secretary at West Perry, then as a secretary at the Perry County courthouse. In addition to running a household and raising a family, she worked at Elaine Hope in Newport, PEBB Manufacturing in Ickesburg, and last worked in 2012 at McDonalds as a shift manager.
Earla was a great mom, excellent seamstress, and felt that everybody was special. She was so proud of her grandchildren and looked after the other residents at Perry Village as if they were part of her family. She enjoyed spending time with people and loved the simple things in life. She loved word searches and bingo. Her favorite snack was a weekender bag size of Middlesworth Chips.
A memorial service will be held on January 30, 2021 at 11 AM at the Saville Brethren In Christ Church in Ickesburg.
