Charles “Butch” Burd, age 79 of Loysville passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 23, 2022. Butch, also know as Charly, born July 20, 1942 in Harrisburg, was the oldest son of the late Lewis and Sara (Leigh) Burd. He is survived by a sister Mary (Roland) Stone; brothers, Dean (Gwen) Burd and Carl (Carol) Burd; a “brother” cousin, Randy Leigh; and a nephew, two nieces, and many more cousins. Butch is preceded in death by two “brother” cousins, Richard and Ricky Leigh. A “brother” cousin is a cousin who is more like a brother than a cousin.
Butch graduated from Blain Union and worked over thirty years for his grandparents on the Leigh farm. He also owned, operated, and retired from Burd Tire Service, which he opened in 1972. Butch enjoyed visiting with his family, friends, and many customers. He was an excellent cook and hosted many family dinners. Anyone could count on Butch to give them a hand whether it be tires or helping at a local store. In recent years, Butch liked nothing more than smoking his pipe with his favorite cherry tobacco, while watching old Westerns or listening to the radio.
Funeral services for Butch are Friday, April 29, 2022 in the newly renovated chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. The viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM.
