Gladys Kathryn Neill

Mrs. Gladys Kathryn Henicle Neill, 99, of Waynesboro, died Sunday night, June 3, 2018, at Manor Care Health Services, Chambersburg.  She was the wife of the late Wilson Smith Neill, who died September 25, 1994.

Born April 19, 1919, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Guy King and Bertha Anna Lohman Henicle.  She a 1937 graduate of Washington Township High School; and later, a 1941 graduate of West Chester University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music.

Mrs. Neill taught music in Washington and Green Townships, Chambersburg, and Washington County, Maryland.  After retiring from the public school systems, she taught piano, privately, to many Waynesboro area children.

She was an active, lifelong member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.  Her church activities included being a member of the Wilson Sunday School Class, the Women’s Society at the church, the choir, and the “Lunch Place.”

Surviving is her son, David W. Neill and wife Susan of Shippensburg; two grandchildren, Autumn Neill Bauserman and husband Paul, and Jesse Neill; four great grandchildren, Summer, Kylie, Matthew and Payton; as well as her sister-n-law, Jackie Henicle; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Neill was preceded in death by brothers, Glenn, Alvin and Floyd Henicle.

The Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.  The family will receive friends at her church, Christ United Methodist Church, 100 South Church Street, Waynesboro, on Friday, June 8, from 9:00 AM, until the service begins at the church at 10:00 AM.  Her pastor, Rev. Dr. Robert Cook, will officiate.  Interment in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, will be private at the family’s convenience.
