LOYSVILLE - Elmer L. Turnbaugh, Jr., 57, of Loysville passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014 in his home.
He was born September 10, 1956 at Carlisle, PA to Elmer L. Turnbaugh, Sr. & Sarah E. (Kiner) Turnbaugh Rudy. He was also preceded in death by two siblings, George Kiner Turnbaugh and Dollie Minium.
He had been employed at DDSP out of the Pentagon as a heavy equipment operator. He worked at the New Cumberland Army Depot, Mechanicsburg Navy Depot and the Carlisle Army War College. He was a truck driver for Kinney Shoe Corp., worked for Union Fire Company in Carlisle and was a late model race car driver at Port Royal and Williams Grove Speedways.
He was a member of the Williams Grove Steam Engine Association, Union Fire Company, Carlisle, Landisburg Fire Company, Shermans Dale Fire Company, Blain Fire Company and also assisted with the Ickesburg Fire Company and New Bloomfield Fire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Loretta A. (Gordon) Turnbaugh, a son, Elmer Travis Turnbaugh, two step children, Christian Palmer, Annette Straub and her husband Michael Straub and two grandsons, Michael Straub and Samuel Straub who he loved dearly.
Services were held.
