Charles Edward (Charlie) Berrier Jr., 91, departed this life Tuesday September 25 to spend eternity with his beloved “Sis.”
Charlie was born September 12, 1927 in New Bloomfield to the late Charles E. and Charlotte (Stone) Berrier and graduated from Bloomfield High School before enlisting in the U. S. Army in 1946.
He served in Korea as part of the post-war occupation force and was honorably discharged in 1948. He returned to his Perry County home and earned his pilot’s license, spending many carefree weekends with friends at the New Bloomfield Airport.

He was the last surviving charter member of New Bloomfield VFW Post #7463, where he served as Post Commander and presided over more than 300 military funerals. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg, a Past Master of Adams Lodge 319 F&AM, and a lifetime member of the New Bloomfield Lions Club, where he delighted theater goers for many years with his innovative and imaginative sets for the spring musicals.
