Rhonda Haas Obituary

Rhonda Mae Haas, age 68, of Elliottsburg, PA, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Broward Health Medical Center, Fort Lauderdale, FL, surrounded by her husband and their two children.  She was born on April 14, 1955, to the late Riley O. and Ivetta M. (Johnson) Neidigh, of Blain, PA.

She graduated from West Perry High School in 1973. After high school she attended the Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Rhonda worked at the Bank of Landisburg for 12 years. Following that, Rhonda and her sister were co-owners of RH2, Inc., Accounting and Tax Services, Loysville, PA, up until 2022.

She loved God and her Church families, Mt. Zion, and Tressler Free Lutheran churches. She dearly loved her family, including her husband of 44 years, her two children, her two grandchildren and her siblings and their families. In her free time, she loved traveling, especially cruising the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Mediterranean Sea, traveling with two especially close and dear friends. She loved spending time at the family cabin in the Pennsylvania Wilds, enjoying everything that nature has to offer, but especially searching for the elusive elk herd, which would often graze on the green grass of the front yard.

In service to her Church and Community, she was the current Treasurer of her church, Treasurer of the Zion Cemetery Association, and the Treasurer of the Mt. Zion Friendship Circle. Past duties over the years included Sunday School teacher for the youth, church band director and choir director. Outside of the church she served the community on various boards, such as the West Perry School Board, Perry County Literacy Council, Perlo Ridge Apartments and Shermans Valley Apartments, as well as volunteered for various other non-profit organizations.

Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Dan M. Haas; a son, Dustin M. Haas and wife Brooke A. of Elliottsburg;  a daughter, Danielle M. Hull and husband David L. of Carlisle;  two grandchildren: Deacon M. and Delaney M.;  a brother Robert O. Neidigh and wife Pamela A. of Blain; and a sister Renee J. Hoke and husband Leon R. of Shippensburg.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald M. Neidigh, who died in 1988.

Indeed, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends here on earth, but she has joined Jesus Christ in Heaven where she is now reunited with all of her loving family and friends who went to their eternal home ahead of her.

Because Rhonda was such a well-known lady, there will be multiple times and places to pay respects and condolences.  The first opportunity will be an evening viewing held in the calming chapel of Nickel Lochstampfor Family Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday April 12 from 6 to 8 PM.  This evening viewing will NOT have the family in attendance; but is an opportunity to sign the register book and pay respects.  On Saturday, April 13, Rhonda’s funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Free Lutheran Church, Landisburg.  The viewing and visitation will be held from 8 to 11 AM.  The funeral service will begin PROMPTLY at 11, with Pastor David Lusk officiating.  (If you are coming for the funeral service, please arrive no later than 10:45 AM to find a seat.)  Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Mt Zion Free Lutheran, 800 Falling Spring Rd, Landisburg, PA 17040, or the UPMC Hilman Cancer Center, 2020 Technology Pkwy, Suite 3200, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.
