Mary Jane (Henry) Trout

Mary J. (Henry) Trout, age 89 of Elliottsburg, left her Earthly home and ascended into the arms of Jesus on January 21, 2024.  Born in Lewistown on August 6, 1934 to the late Homer H. and Mary K. (van Sweringen) Henry, Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Harry W. Trout, three sons:  Craig (John) Trout of Phoenix, AZ, Brad (Debbie) Trout of Glen Rock, and William (Kimberly) Trout of Lemoyne; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a sister:  Bertha (Wayne) Bowers of Steelton.  In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by two brothers:  Carlton and Donald Henry.

Mary graduated from Juniata High School and continued her education at Harrisburg Hospital, from where she graduated with the Registered Nursing Class of 1955.  Throughout her nursing career, she was a nurse at Harrisburg Hospital, MS Hershy Medical Center, and Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, from which she retired.  In her free time, she was an active member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg and the Ickesburg Lions Club.  She also was an enthusiastic bowler in a daytime bowling league.

A memorial service for Mary will be held on Sunday, March 10 at 2 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church in Elliottsburg, with Pastor Eric Petty officiating.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 70 Limestone Ridge Road, Elliottsburg, PA  17024.
